It’s always amusing to hear people who use window$ call themselves geeks. Um, no…if you’re using that bloated, crash-prone, proprietary, inferior “operating system” you’re definitely not a geek.
On the other hand, those of us who actually are geeks AND have chosen to use Linux should be proud. We’ve made the intelligent choice to use a stable, powerful, superior operating system that doesn’t prevent us from getting our hands dirty in its innards–if that’s what we want to do.
Of course, today’s Linux is no longer the cryptic command-based OS of its early days. Today’s Linux has an amazing array of beautiful, versatile GUI-based desktop environments and window managers to choose from, including my personal favorite KDE. And I must say, they make anything micro$oft has copied…er, come out with, pale in comparison.
Modern Linux gives its users the ability–the choice–to do things the way they’re comfortable. We can do everything from a command line with the awesome, powerful built-in tools, we can do everything from our favorite GUI, or we can pick and choose depending on our mood.
So, fellow Linux geeks, if you’re inclined to let others know about your status, this merchandise might be just the thing. Its slogan says, Geek by birth, Linux by choice, and is available on lots of merchandise. Here’s an example:
